ZINNI SECURES 3RD STRAIGHT STATE SENIOR OPEN TITLE WITH 68
JORDAN -- Starting the day with a two-stroke lead, Mike Zinni didn't really give anyone else a chance Wednesday, as he fired a 4-under-par 68 to wrap up his third consecutive Minnesota Senior State Open championship.
That put his 36-hole total at 137 at Ridges at Sand Creek and gave him a three-shot margin of victory over John Snyder (140). Snyder, who plays out of Muscle Golf Worldwide, also shot 68, which was the low round of the day.
This was Zinni's fourth State Open title in all, and the 59-year-old head professional at the Mankato Golf Club made it look pretty easy. At least it was considerably easier than last year's victory at Pebble Creek, where he came from two shots behind in the final round and eventually won in a playoff.
Jon Empanger of Island View was the low amateur. He shot a 70 for an aggregate of 142.
